Weekly Learning Review - Week Ending: 22 March 2018

Weekly Learning Review

Class:      Year 3              Week Ending: 22/3/2018
This week in literacy we have revised expectations for the assessments. We proof read a piece of work correcting grammar errors such as capital letters, commas, full stops and spelling errors. We also completed a comprehension exercise. Children peer assessed each others work. They then studied the model answer provided and corrected their own answers.
We consolidated our understanding of fractions. We started by looking at a video showing proportions of shapes shaded and explaining the concept of fractions. We then moved on to working out fractions of whole numbers, for example three quarters of 12, one third of six. We also started to look at word problems based on fractions. We finished the maths this week, by briefly looking at frequency tables and how to construct bar graphs. Please continue with the revision pack provided on Sunday.
This week, we answered lots of revision questions on the topics for the test. These were written in last weeks learning review. The test will now be on Sunday. Please help children over the weekend to revise. They should try to learn the key vocabulary we have used throughout the units.
Lesson time this week was used for assessments
Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education
As a reward for the fantastic assembly the children did on Monday, we watched the adventures of Odysseus. This is linked to the work we have been doing on Ancient Greece.
