Weekly Learning Review Week Ending: 15th February 2018

Weekly Learning Review
Class:      Year 3                      Week Ending: 15/2/2018
This week, we have studied our literacy through our chosen story for book week. We watched a short animation of George and the Dragon. We then arranged sentences in order to make the story complete. We also spent time searching for and correcting errors to make the story correct. The children spent time reading the story searching for nouns, adjectives and verbs. We also looked at the use of commas in the story. After the midterm break, we will be having a big focus on the use of punctuation. Finally, children illustrated and labelled a scene from the story for our class display to mark Book Week. Spellings this week were short and long o vowel sound.
We have spent the week doing lots of work with basic multiplication. We have worked out missing factors for calculations, multiplication wheels and fact family triangles. I would like children to practice their times tables over the holiday, specifically 3x, 4x and 8x facts up to 12x3, 12x4, 12x8. After the break, we will be doing more complicated calculations. This will be much easier for the children if they know their tables.
We completed our worksheets to consolidate all the learning we have done about plants. Children now know how plants grow and the functions of each part of a plant.
We completed work on parts of a volcano and children drew and labelled their own diagrams. We watched a short video to show how important volcanoes are in shaping our landscape.
Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education
